The Silver Age (Marvel Comics) - SkyBox (USA)

SkyBox follows up last year's successful Marvel Creators Collection with a new trading card series focusing on Marvel's Silver Age period (1961-1973). Stan Lee Presents Marvel Comics: The Silver Age contains 100 base cards featuring specially remastered artwork, cover pictures and plot information. The series also boasts five different types of insert card, these being nine Alex Ross Salutes the Silver Age cards (1:6), six Silver Age Tribute to Jack Kirby cards (1:6), nine Silver Age Heroes mirrorboard cards (1:12), eleven Silver Age artist autograph cards (1:36) and hand-drawn Silver Age Sketchagraph cards (1:36). Artists how have signed autographs/drawn Sketchgraphs are Stan Lee, John Romita, John Buscema, George Tuska, Gene Colan, Marie Severin, Dick Ayers, Tom Palmer, Joe Sinnott, Dan Schaefer, John Czop, Mike Dutkiewicz, Emir Ribiero and Roy Thomas. Card Zine found seven card packs selling for £1.85 in a specialist store. A Silver Age binder, in which to store the complete collection, is also available. A promo card for the series was given away with the November 1998 issue of Wizard magazine.
