Catwoman - Inkworks (USA)

This summer's non-sports trading card releases have been rather dominated by movie tie-ins. Inkworks recently launched two sets devoted to major film titles, these being Catwoman and Alien Vs. Predator (the latter is reviewed elsewhere on the Card Zine web site).

The Catwoman set is made up of 72 regular cards, with sub-series devoted to the movie characters, Tale of the Cat (cards featuring background information on the Catwoman legend), the film story and behind the scenes. The use of blue and black seems to give the cards a sophisticated feel, with the text being clear and easy to read.

Bonus insert cards for this series are nine Fearless foil puzzle cards which fit together to form a Catwoman montage (1:11 packs), six Cat Vision foil cards featuring Catwoman in various poses (1:17), fourteen Pieceworks cards featuring pieces of the costumes worn in the film (1 per box) and six actor autograph cards (1 per box). In our box we found four of the puzzle cards, two Cat Vision cards, a Pieceworks card containing a piece of sweater worn by Halle Berry and a Lambert Wilson autograph redemption card. The redemption card has the Catwoman logo on the front and is printed using foil. We were also able to make up two complete sets of the base cards. Our box also contained one of three box loader cards. One case loader card was also produced.

Catwoman trading cards are available in the UK through specialist stores and trading card dealers. Packs contain six cards and a display box carries 36 packs. A collection storage binder is available. Inkworks has also released 299 uncut sheets of the foil puzzle cards from the Fearless insert set.
