The Cat in the Hat - Comic Images (USA)

The film version of Dr. Seuss' The Cat in the Hat has been transferred to trading cards by Comic Images. The 72 card basic set retells the movie story and details the characters through the use of photographs and, in keeping with the original children's book, rhyme. Card backs also feature classic Cat in the Hat artwork.

Comic Images has included two levels of bonus insert cards in the collection. Each of the six die-cut character cards (numbered DC1-DC6, inserted into approximately 1:18 packs) can be pushed out and stood up to make a simple model of one of the film's major characters. The six memorabilia insert cards (numbered CW1-CW6) feature actual pieces of costume worn by the actors in the film. In our box, we found two complete basic card sets as well as four of the die-cut cards and one memorabilia card, number CW1, which features a piece of the dress worn by the actress who played the mother.

Three promo cards, numbered P1-P3, were produced prior to the release of the main set. The Cat in the Hat trading cards are available in the UK through specialist dealers. Packs contain seven cards, with 36 packs in each display box. In short, The Cat in the Hat is a high quality series of cards, with great shots from the film and terrific design. Whilst this is a release that is particularly suitable for younger collectors, features such as movie memorabilia make this series one that everyone will want to check out.
